If we look deeply into the processes, and purpose, of eating and digesting and the organs involved and their functions, it will become apparent that politics is the bowels of the social body.

Now, those processes are never pretty or completely clean and never very pretty; but they can be made far less disgusting, and not pathological at all if we are vigilant about what we eat.

People who are raw Vegans still have to eliminate wastes, but what they've got in the recesses of their bowels is a whole lot healthier than the guts of those who eat indiscriminately. There are the Bernie Sanders, the Ron Pauls, the Dennis Kuchinichs, the Jesse Venturas and the Tulsi Gabbards of the political world; and then there are the Bushes and the Clintons, the Kissingers and the Robert Byrds. The former group isn't my idea of squeaky clean, but neither are they torpid and impacted with filth. And that, given the current reality such as it is, is the best we can hope for.

Junk in, junk out. Society cannot subsist on the moral equivalent of Mickey D's and expect healthy government.

If we want to minimize the extent to which running government is filthy and disgusting to the absolute minimum - to get it to the level of the digestive system of the healthiest Vegans, it starts with what we let into our moral system and allow to become part of us. If we try to live on death and suffering, we will surely create a moribund political system.
