The Bird Imitator

A man claiming to be a most unique bird imitator came to seek
employment at a circus.

The experienced and hard-boiled circus owner gruffly told the man to go
away, saying that bird imitations are old-hat and cliche, boring and
that everyone had heard as many possible bird calls as possible.

The bird imitator asked for just a chance to show what he could do.

The circus owner told him to be off, refusing even to give him a
chance to do his "shtick".

Seeing that the circus owner was obdurate in his refusal to see the
bird imitation, the bird imitator bid him farewell and flew out the
window.
