Reading The Roadsigns

Most people reading or hearing about the earthquake in Alaska would
consider it an interesting and only moderately earth-shaking story
(pun intended, your forgiveness requested).

The spiritually gifted, in sharp contrast, can see that such
incidents are portents, that they are warnings, messages from Heaven
to desist. The spiritually gifted know to thank God for the warning
and to heed the admonishment.

The world has been assailed by a series of major "natural disasters"
in rapid succession recently. Who has understood the meaning of
these events? Scientists try to chalk them up to climatic changes,
to explain them rationally, as if to explain them as mere natural
phenomena amenable to rational analysis is to reclaim some measure of
control over them. This is a foolhearty illusion.

No, the spiritually gifted know that God is letting man know that we
are essentially helpless, but for the performance of acts of loving-
kindness which we are enjoined to do we have no hope at all, we are
standing on mere space. But for the grace of God the ground shakes
and crumbles from under us and we fall into the abyss. All of our
most heroic and ingenious endeavors can be undone in the flash of a
lightning bolt, drowned in a storm or a tidal wave, shaken by the
earth in the blink of an eye and they are as though they never were.
G-d is good and does not destroy, but lets us know that all of our
endeavors are for naught if not for the sake of Heaven.

Let us, those who have eyes to see and hears to hear, pray that the
entire network of people involved in the oil industry understand that
the earthquake shows how vulnerable the oil empire is. This time the
oil pipelines in Alaska were not broken. God did not wish to leave
the American people without their major source of power and those who
sell oil without their source of income, not this time. However, if
the world does not soon come to realize Who is their true source of
Power, they will, without a shadow of a doubt be shown Who is the
Master of this world in no uncertain terms.
